Description
Margaret McCord Robinson, a great-great-granddaughter of Ben McCord, tells the story of her ancestor’s service as a Loyalist officer during the Revolutionary War. After the close of the conflict, McCord refused to take the Oath of Allegiance, yet unlike many of his fellow Loyalists, he decided to remain in Westchester County. McCord acquired land from Pierre Van Cortlandt, a leading Patriot, and remained a county resident until he died in 1807.
