Quarterly Journal
About
In January 1925, the Westchester County Historical Society published Volume 1, Number 1 of our quarterly journal. Throughout 2026, we will be publishing our 102nd volume. The journal has had several names during its existence* with our current, ongoing publication titled, The Westchester Historian. Each edition of the scholarly journal contains articles on various historical topics pertaining to Westchester. In addition, the quarterly journal contains valuable insight into how the historical society has functioned as an organization, with information regarding events, members, and leadership. A subscription to The Westchester Historian is included with membership to the Westchester County Historical Society.
WCHS is pleased to provide digital access to the first 52 volumes of the Quarterly Journal, which were published from 1925 through 1976, as well as indexes to all volumes from 1925 through 2022. For options to purchase back issues of our more recent journals, or paper copies of those that have been digitized, please contact WCHS at info@westchesterhistory.com.

Historian PDFs: Volumes 1-52
Volumes 1 through 52 (1925-1976) are provided as free, digitally accessible PDFs. Funding for this project was made possible through a 2025-26 Preservation Grant from the Polly Cooper Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.
WCHS is providing access to its early quarterly journals so they can serve as an easily accessible resource for those interested in Westchester County history. Ongoing research has added to or even disproven the conclusions reached in some articles. We recognize that some articles presented in the quarterly journal may contain insufficient or incorrect information, and that they may not reflect the most recent scholarship regarding a particular topic.
The quarterly journals are presented by WCHS for educational purposes and for the preservation of the historic record of our institution. However, like other historical materials, they may contain a range of sensitive and potentially harmful content, including outdated views, racist, stereotypical, and hurtful terminology, and/or prejudicial assumptions and interpretations.
