Description
At the beginning of the Revolutionary War, Solomon Fowler owned a farm in the portion of the Town of Eastchester that was later annexed to New York City in 1895. Fowler was apparently not enthused with the Revolution, and as such was summoned to New York City Hall “to show cause…why [he] should be considered as a friend to the American cause….” Whether or not Fowler appeared is unknown, but he later served as an officer in a Loyalist unit and was killed in a skirmish at Greenwich, Connecticut, on May 22, 1780.
