Description
The outbreak of the Revolutionary War forced many Westchester County residents to choose sides. Samuel Wood of present-day New Castle stayed neutral during the days leading up to the beginning of the conflict, but cast his lot with the British once fighting began. Herbert Barber Howe recounts Wood’s activity during the Revolution, his departure for Canada after the war, and his failed attempt to reunite with his family.
